Choosing a broker

What a truck finance broker across Western Sydney should do for you

A good broker widens your options and narrows your risk: more lenders in play, the trade-offs explained before you commit, and one person accountable from quote to settlement.

A truck finance broker sits between you and the lenders. Instead of applying to one bank and taking whatever comes back, the broker checks your situation against a panel of lenders, tells you which ones are likely to say yes and on what terms, and runs the application so you are not repeating yourself. For business finance the broker also structures the deal: term, balloon, security and documentation level all change the rate and the approval odds.

How to choose a truck finance broker across Western Sydney

  • Licence and membership. Search the Australian Credit Licence on ASIC's register and confirm AFCA membership. Lyft Money holds ACL 541052 and is AFCA member 93387.
  • A real panel. Ask how many lenders they compare and whether they show you more than one option. Our panel is 48+ lenders, listed on this page.
  • Paid how, and disclosed when. Lender commission is normal; it should be disclosed before you sign, not after.
  • Reviews you can read. Look for volume and recency, not just a star rating. Ours are on Google: 5.0 from 340 reviews.
  • Local knowledge. A broker who knows Western Sydney knows which lenders like the local industries and which assets settle quickly here.

How Lyft Money works across Western Sydney

Western Sydney is our home market. Our office is at Level 14, 3 Parramatta Square, and Anthony, Stefan and Kris regularly visit clients across the region — at a yard in Wetherill Park, a workshop in Smithfield or a site in the Aerotropolis. Documents are handled online where that is quicker, and settlements are arranged Australia-wide with dealers and suppliers in any state.

Western Sydney carries an enormous share of the state’s freight task, moving containers from Port Botany to the Moorebank intermodal terminal and out to distribution centres at Eastern Creek, Erskine Park and Prestons. Prime movers, B-doubles and rigid distribution trucks all finance well here. We match the term to the contract or the run the truck is servicing and set balloons against realistic resale for a highway-kilometre vehicle.

Questions to ask any broker

  • Which Australian Credit Licence do you operate under, and are you an AFCA member?
  • How many lenders do you actually compare, and can you show me more than one option?
  • How are you paid, and will you disclose the commission before I sign?
  • Who handles my file after settlement if something changes?
  • What can you settle in a week, and what takes longer?

Why Western Sydney borrowers use a broker

Western Sydney is the industrial and logistics engine of New South Wales, running from Parramatta out through Blacktown, Penrith, Liverpool and the growth corridors around the new Western Sydney Airport. Its economy is dominated by construction, transport and warehousing, light manufacturing, health and a rapidly expanding population that supports retail, childcare and services. Most of Sydney’s new industrial floorspace is built here.

Make, model, year, kilometres, build specification and the contract or freight task it will service.

  2. 02

    Match lender to profile

Your broker places established operators and first-time owner-drivers with lenders that have appetite for each.

  3. 03

  • Driver licence, ABN and any operator accreditation
  • Invoice or sale contract, plus service history for used trucks
  • Freight contract, bank statements or financials depending on profile

The lender makes the final credit decision. Available options depend on your business and the lender’s assessment.

Browse all questions →

Do I need to come into the Parramatta office?

No. Most Western Sydney clients deal with their broker by phone, email and video, and sign electronically. The office at Level 14, 3 Parramatta Square is there if you prefer to meet in person; hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:30pm.

What does a truck finance broker cost across Western Sydney?

In most cases nothing directly. The lender pays Lyft Money a commission when the loan settles, and we disclose it before you sign. Where a fee applies, for example on a complex or private deal, it is quoted in writing before any work starts. You are never charged for a comparison or a quote.

How do I check a finance broker is legitimate?

Search the broker's Australian Credit Licence on ASIC's Professional Registers and confirm they are a member of the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). Lyft Money operates under ACL 541052 and is AFCA member 93387. Then read recent Google reviews and ask how many lenders they compare and how they are paid.

Is Lyft Money a lender or a broker?

We are a finance broker. We compare suitable options from our lender panel and help you through the process. We explain any broker fee and how we are paid before you proceed. The lender assesses and decides the application.

Can I get low-doc truck finance?

Yes, for established operators. Low-doc truck finance is generally available up to around $150,000 to $250,000 for businesses with an ABN of two years or more, a clean credit file and, often, property ownership or a deposit, without financials. Amounts above that, or newer operators, usually need financials or a contract. Approval is often within 24 to 72 hours once the truck details are in.

Do I need a deposit for truck finance?

Established operators with financials can usually finance 100 per cent of the price. New owner-drivers are generally asked for 10 to 20 per cent, either as cash or a trade-in, and a deposit also improves the rate and widens the panel of lenders. Some lenders will accept equity in property in place of a cash deposit.

How quickly can truck finance be approved?

Established operators are often approved within 24 to 72 hours and can settle as soon as the dealer invoice and insurance are in place. New owner-drivers and private sales take a few days longer for contract verification and inspection. If a truck is on hold with a dealer, tell your broker so the approval is prioritised.

Will checking my options affect my credit file?

Making an initial enquiry is not the same as applying to a lender. We discuss your circumstances and likely options first. Your broker will explain any credit check that is required and obtain your consent before proceeding.

Do I have to proceed after enquiring?

No. You can review the options and ask questions before deciding. Nothing is submitted to a lender without your go-ahead.

How many lenders does Lyft Money work with?

We hold accreditations with a panel of more than 18 lenders, spanning major banks, non-bank asset financiers, specialist commercial funders, invoice and trade finance providers and short-term fintech lenders. A panel matters because credit appetite varies enormously: an asset or an industry that one funder avoids may be routine for another. We select from the panel based on your circumstances rather than sending the same application everywhere.
